It is difficult to tell which products will help and which are useless and a waste of money. The key to selecting skin rejuvenation care products is to look at the ingredients. Some ingredients in skin rejuvenation care products have been proven to positively affect ageing and help to turn back the clock.

Ingredients to Look For

There are several ingredients in skin rejuvenation care products that have been proven to turn back the clock, among them is Allantoin. Allantoin is an extract from the comfrey plant, the roots and leaves of the comfrey plant is used to produce Allantoin. Allantoin is excellent in anti ageing products as it promotes cell renewal and helps to soften the skin. Both properties that make it an ideal component of skin rejuvenation care. The higher the concentration of this ingredient the better but even low concentrations can help to refresh skin.

Alpha hydroxy acids are also popular ingredients in skin rejuvenation care products. Some alpha hydroxy acids you may have heard of are glycolic acid, lactic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid and malic acid. These acids have an exfoliation effect and can increase collagen production and increase skin thickness. These acids also produce improve skin tone and texture as well as diminished acne.

However used in high concentrations these ingredients can cause skin irritation. Lactic acid is found in milk and is probably the mildest. Malic acid is also one of the milder alpha hydroxy acids, it is found in grapes and you will find that most home spa recipes include grapes. Tartaric acid is found in apples and pears and is also a good skin rejuvenation care ingredient to look out for. Citric acid is found in most fruit and vegetables that have a high concentration of vitamin C. Glycolic acid is quite harsh and is used by dermatologists and doctors for deeper skin peels.

The rest of your skin rejuvenation care regime should include your lifestyle. Smoking, excessive alcohol intake and exposure to the sun are all things that age your skin. Cut these bad habits out to enjoy better-looking skin and to stop the ageing process from taking place too rapidly. Wearing sun block and making sure that you stay out of the sun if possible is also key. Your diet should also include foods that are rich in antioxidants to neutralize the free radicals that cause ageing.
