Doubletree Hotel

Doubletree Hotel: Living In An Upscale Hotel

The doubletree hotel is one of the leading upscale chains of hotels in the world today. Operated by hotel chain giant Hilton Hotels Corporation, doubletree hotel owns about 174 properties in the United States, Latin America and Canada. If you happen to be one of those people who want to be on familiar surroundings during your travel across Canada, the United States and Latin America, staying in one of the chains of doubletree hotel is a good option for you. Note that like most chains of luxury hotels, the doubletree hotels follow strict rules and quality control standards so you need not worry about poor service in any of these hotels.

How Doubletree Hotel Started

Doubletree hotel has a long history. The first hotel of the company was launched in 1969 near the Scottsdale Fashion square in Scottsdale, Arizona. At present, the Scottsdale Days Inn occupies this area. Since the land is leased from the mall and the lease contract agreement expires in 2009, the old hotel will probably be demolished to give way for another construction when the lease expires. It's really quite sad considering the colorful history of this old hotel. However, the good news is that the second hotel of the company which started operating in Tucson, Arizona in 1974 is still very much alive and will most likely stay in operations for a long time. While this second oldest hotel still stands, we will still be able to enjoy the old grandeur of the old doubletree hotel.

Like most other chains of hotels, the doubletree hotel survived mergers and changes in management. In 1994, the doubletree corporation was formed following the merger of the company with then Guest Quarters Suits Hotels. In 1997, Doubletree Corporation merged with Promus Hotel Corporation. Unfortunately, the partnership was not really so fruitful and Promus Hotel Corporation eventually sold its properties to Hilton Hotels Corporation in December 1999. At present, the hotel chain is owned and run by the Hilton Hotels Corporation.

Branding Strategy

As part of its branding strategy, the hotel management introduced the "doubletree cookies" in the early 1980s. The idea here is to serve freshly based chocolate chip cookies to the guest as a welcome treat. The doubletree cookies became an instant hit among guests that the company continues serving these goodies until the present. According to a many guests that come to this hotel, the cookies are simply heavenly. The cookies also help create a more friendly and homey atmosphere in the hotel.
